MINHOQUINHO’

journey

1991 - 2008

Born in small town of Chelm in eastern Poland,

In his early teens he used to spend his free time on absorbing Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and Tony Jaa movies. He tried to imitate their moves in the back garden… very often unsuccessfully.

He spent 2 years doing a little bit of free running.

2008 - 2010

Attended first Capoeira class in the local group UNICAR. Coincidently, that class was dedicated to movement and acrobatics, not Capoeira as such.

Learned first movements, attended first workshops, sustained first injuries, acquired first belt.

He made some great memories with amazing people.

2010 - 2011

Moved out from Poland to Northern England, Lancashire.

Spent a year there working during the day, trained with his pal on a meadow in the evenings.

Attended some Capoeira classes in Manchester in the group Cordão De Ouro. It was then when Capoeira became one of the most important things in his life.

Learned more moves, joined Cordão De Ouro and acquired second belt.

2011 - 2018

Moved to Edinburgh, Scotland.

Made some friends in the local Senzala group.

Joined Cordão De Ouro under Instructor Medusa (now Mestre ) and Mestre Papa-Leguas.

Studied and worked part time jobs in between Capoeira classes.

Studied Capoeira, partied with Capoeira people, traveled with Capoeira people, learned more Capoeira moves and acquired couple more Capoeira belts.

Took a gap year from life (also from Capoeira) to travel New Zealand.

2018 - Now

Came back from the gap year. (2018)

Started documenting his Capoeira movement journey on YouTube. (2019)

Opened his own Capoeira classes. (2020-21)

Acquired the title of Professor of Capoeira. (2022)

Juggles between fatherhood, work, drumming, woodworking, YouTube and leading TUCUM Capoeira Edinburgh group. (2023 - now)

A BIT MORE ABOUT

MINHOQUINHO?

["meen-yoh-KEEN-yoo"]

Minhoquinho [translates to ‘'Little Worm”] is native of Poland and Scottish citizen. He has immersed himself in the art of Capoeira for the past 16 years spending every free minute of his life studying, training and thinking about it.

As it quickly turned out, he has a deep-rooted passion for Capoeira movement which has been the driving force behind his unwavering dedication, commitment… and his YouTube work as well as this website.

Minhoquinho has not simply decided to learn as many Capoeira movements as possible. He dedicated himself into the study and deeper understanding of their essence - he simply MUST know everything that there is to know.
This in turn has ignited within him a desire to pass on his knowledge to others, particularly as he discovered his passion for teaching.

With a wealth of experience, Minhoquinho is now eager to share his knowledge and assist others in realizing their Capoeira movement aspirations.

MINHOQUINHO’ ultimate goal is to empower CAPOEIRISTAS to achieve their full potentiaL, as well as TO creatE a community of dedicated practitioners who share his love and enthusiasm for the art.
